Provinces (प्रदेश): all seven — Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim — each in its own colour. Districts (जिल्ला): all 77, coloured by province, with Nepali names. Local levels (स्थानीय तह): more than 750 units — 6 metropolitan cities (महानगरपालिका), 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities (नगरपालिका) and 460 rural municipalities (गाउँपालिका) — plus national parks and reserves.

Since the 2015 constitution, Nepal is a federal republic with 7 provinces, 77 districts and 753 local levels: 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities and 460 rural municipalities, which are further divided into 6,743 wards. The provinces replaced the old 5 development regions and 14 zones, and two districts were split (Nawalparasi and Rukum), taking the count from 75 to 77.
