How to measure land on the map

1. Find your land — search the place name, press My location if you're standing on it, or pan and zoom the satellite view.
2. Tap each corner of the plot in order. After the third point the area appears and keeps updating.
3. Fine-tune — drag any corner marker to match the boundary exactly; use Undo or Clear to redo points.
4. Read the result in ropani-aana-paisa-daam and bigha-kattha-dhur, along with square metres, square feet, hectares and the plot's perimeter.

Ropani and bigha on the map — how the conversion works

The tool computes the polygon's true ground area on the Earth's surface, then converts with the standard official bases: 1 ropani = 16 aana = 64 paisa = 256 daam = 5,476 sq ft (74 ft × 74 ft), and 1 bigha = 20 kattha = 400 dhur = 72,900 sq ft. That's roughly 13.31 ropani per bigha — the same figures used by Napi (survey) offices and our converter tools.

What it's useful for

Get a quick area before buying or selling land, cross-check the field size stated on a lalpurja (land ownership certificate), split a plot among family and see each share, estimate fencing length from the perimeter, or measure fields, gardens, ponds and roofs anywhere in the world — the units work globally even though it's built for Nepal.

How accurate is it?

Accuracy depends on how precisely you place the corners. Zoomed in fully on satellite view, corner placement is typically within 1–3 metres, so expect results within a few percent for a normal plot — excellent for estimates and cross-checks. For legal boundaries, always rely on an official Napi survey; satellite imagery can also be a few metres offset from true ground position in hilly terrain.

Why is my result slightly different from my lalpurja?

Small differences are normal: corner placement on imagery is approximate, satellite photos can be offset a few metres (especially on slopes), and old survey figures sometimes differ from modern measurements. Treat the tool as a strong estimate, not a legal survey.

Does it work outside Nepal?

Yes — you can measure any area anywhere in the world. The metric and imperial results are universal; ropani and bigha are simply shown alongside them.

Can I measure a roof, pond or irregular shape?

Yes. Add as many corner points as you need — the polygon can be any shape, and dragging points lets you follow curved boundaries closely.
