Nepali Number to Words Converter (अंकलाई अक्षरमा) — Cheque Writing

Free Nepali number to words converter: type any amount in figures and instantly get it written in Nepali words, ready for cheque writing, bank forms, contracts and legal documents. For example, रु 5,123,456.50 becomes एकाउन्न लाख तेइस हजार चार सय छपन्न रुपैयाँ र पचास पैसा मात्र — copied to your clipboard with one click.

The tool uses the South Asian numbering system used in Nepal — हजार, लाख, करोड, अरब, खरब — and also gives you the amount in English words (the same lakh/crore style Nepali banks accept), plus the figure in देवनागरी अंक with correct Nepali comma grouping. Paisa is supported with decimals: type 500.75 and the words include र पचहत्तर पैसा automatically. You can type the amount in English digits (123) or Nepali digits (१२३) — both work.

How to write an amount in words on a Nepali cheque?

1. Type the amount in figures in the box above — for example 25000.
2. The first result is exactly what you write on the cheque's
3. Press Copy and paste it, or copy the English version for English-format cheques.
4. Always end the line with मात्र (Only) — it prevents anyone from adding extra words to change the amount, which is why banks require it.
5. Write the same amount in figures in the box (रु अंकमा), draw a line through any empty space, and your cheque is safe and correct.

Nepali numbers group differently from international (million/billion) format. After the first three digits, every two digits get a new name:

अंक (Figure)नेपालीEnglish
One Hundred
One Thousand
One Lakh (100 Thousand)
One Crore (10 Million)
One Arba (1 Billion)
One Kharba (100 Billion)

This converter handles amounts all the way up to शंख (१ followed by 17 zeros), converting every digit exactly — no rounding errors even for very large legal or government figures.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is this Nepali number to words converter free?

Yes, completely free with no limit, no sign-up and no watermark. Everything runs in your browser — the amounts you type are never sent to or stored on our servers.

Does it support paisa (decimals)?

Yes. Type the amount with a decimal point, like 1500.75, and the words include the paisa automatically: एक हजार पाँच सय रुपैयाँ र पचहत्तर पैसा मात्र.

Why must a cheque amount end with मात्र (Only)?

मात्र means "only" and closes the amount line so nobody can append words and increase the amount. Banks in Nepal expect it on every cheque, and this tool adds it for you automatically.

What is the largest number it can convert?

Up to शंख — a 19-digit figure (e.g. १२ शंख ३४ पद्म ५६ नील…). Every digit is converted exactly with no rounding, so it is safe for legal and government documents.

Can I type Nepali digits (१२३) instead of English?

Yes. The input accepts both Devanagari (०-९) and English (0-9) digits, with or without commas.
