Since federalism, every official form asks for your province, district and local level — citizenship and passport applications, land documents, bank KYC forms, school admissions, SIM registration. Many people know their village or tole but not which gaunpalika or nagarpalika it landed in after the 2017 restructuring, when old VDCs were merged into 753 new local levels. This tool answers it in one tap — and works for any point in Nepal, so you can check your home village, a plot of land you're buying, or where a bus route passes.

Your local level with its type — metropolitan city (महानगरपालिका), sub-metropolitan city (उपमहानगरपालिका), municipality (नगरपालिका) or rural municipality (गाउँपालिका) — your district (जिल्ला) and province (प्रदेश) in both languages, plus your coordinates in decimal and degrees-minutes-seconds. Where OpenStreetMap has the detail mapped, it also adds your ward number (वडा नं.), tole/area and street name. If you're inside a national park or reserve, it tells you that too.

GPS on a phone is accurate to a few metres outdoors, and boundaries are community-mapped OpenStreetMap data simplified for speed. Near a palika border the result could flip either way — for official confirmation ask your ward office.
Yes. Your ward number (वडा नं.) comes from bundled boundary data covering all 6,800+ wards of Nepal — the exact ward polygon is drawn on the map. The tole/area and street name are read live from OpenStreetMap where mapped. Near a ward border, GPS accuracy means the result could flip either way.
After the 2017 restructuring many old VDC names disappeared into merged palikas, and near boundaries the mapped line may differ slightly from the official survey. Check with your district's official list if the result surprises you.
