FD Calculator Nepal — Fixed Deposit Maturity (मुद्दती निक्षेप क्याल्कुलेटर)

Free fixed deposit calculator for Nepal: enter your deposit amount, the bank's annual interest rate and the term (years and months), and instantly see your maturity value, total interest earned, effective annual yield and the monthly interest payout if you take interest every month. A fixed deposit (मुद्दती निक्षेप / मुद्दती खाता) locks your money in a bank for a set term at a fixed rate — usually the highest interest a Nepali bank pays on a deposit.

Nepali banks — Nepal Bank, NIC Asia, Global IME, Nabil, Kumari and others — compound FD interest quarterly (every three months), so this calculator uses quarterly compounding by default; you can switch to monthly, half-yearly or yearly to match your bank. On a cumulative FD the interest is added to the balance and compounds; on a non-cumulative FD you receive the interest monthly and the principal stays fixed — both are shown. Remember that FD interest is taxable: individuals in Nepal have 6% TDS deducted at source, so tick the tax box to see your real, after-tax return.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How is fixed deposit interest calculated?

FD maturity uses compound interest: A = P × (1 + r/n)n·t, where P is your deposit, r the annual rate, t the term in years and n how many times a year interest is compounded. For example रु 1,00,000 at 9% compounded quarterly for 5 years matures to about रु 1,56,051.

How often do Nepali banks compound FD interest?

Most banks in Nepal compound fixed deposit interest quarterly — every three months — which is why this calculator uses quarterly compounding by default. Quarterly compounding gives a slightly higher return than yearly because interest starts earning interest sooner. You can switch the frequency to match your bank's terms.

Is fixed deposit interest taxed in Nepal?

Yes. Banks deduct tax at source (TDS) on FD interest — 6% for individuals in Nepal — and deposit it with the tax office, so you receive the interest net of tax. Tick the tax box in the calculator to see your after-tax interest and maturity value.

What happens if I withdraw my FD early?

Breaking a fixed deposit before maturity is premature withdrawal. Banks usually pay a reduced interest rate for the period the money actually stayed, and may charge a penalty, so you earn less than the maturity value shown here. Check your bank's premature withdrawal terms before you commit.

Is my data stored anywhere?

No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers.
