Free loan calculator for Nepal: enter the loan amount, the annual interest rate and the tenure, and instantly see your monthly installment, the total interest you will pay, the total repayment, and a year-by-year schedule. It works for every kind of loan in Nepal — home loans (घर कर्जा), auto and bike loans, personal loans, education loans, business loans and gold loans from banks, finance companies, microfinance and cooperatives (सहकारी).
Two things make this loan calculator especially useful in Nepal. First, the flat vs reducing toggle: banks quote reducing-balance (घट्दो) rates, but many hire-purchase dealers and cooperatives quote flat rates — and a "12% flat" loan actually costs about as much as a 21% reducing-balance loan. Switch to फ्ल्याट and the calculator shows the real equivalent reducing rate so you can compare offers honestly. Second, the "कति ऋण पाइन्छ?" (affordability) mode: enter the monthly installment you can afford and it tells you the maximum loan a bank's formula supports.
1. Keep the किस्ता निकाल्ने tab to calculate the installment for a known loan — enter amount, rate and tenure.
2. Choose the interest type: घट्दो (reducing balance) for bank loans, फ्ल्याट (flat) for hire-purchase or cooperative offers quoted "per year on the full amount".
3. Or switch to कति ऋण पाइन्छ? and enter the monthly payment you can afford — most Nepali banks accept an installment up to about 50% of your monthly income.
4. Results update instantly as you type; change any value to compare offers live.

A reducing-balance loan charges interest only on what you still owe, so the interest portion shrinks every month. A flat-rate loan charges interest on the original amount for the entire tenure — even in the last month, when you owe almost nothing. That is why a flat rate roughly doubles in reducing terms: this calculator solves the exact equivalent so a "10% flat" motorcycle loan reveals itself as ~17.9% reducing over 5 years. Always ask which type you are being quoted before signing.
Rates float with each bank's base rate and change quarterly. As a rough guide, home loans run around 8–12%, auto loans 9–13%, personal/overdraft loans 11–15%, and cooperative or hire-purchase lending is often higher (and sometimes flat-rate). Enter the exact rate from your bank's offer letter — then re-check here whenever the base rate changes.
Planning a home or vehicle purchase with a down payment? The EMI Calculator adds a down-payment field and a month-by-month amortization table. Compare borrowing against investing with the SIP Calculator, work out your take-home pay with the Salary Tax Calculator, or write the loan amount in words for cheques with the Number to Words converter.
For reducing-balance loans, the standard formula is EMI = P × r × (1+r)ⁿ ÷ ((1+r)ⁿ − 1), where P is the loan amount, r the monthly interest rate and n the number of months — the same formula every commercial bank in Nepal uses. For flat loans, installment = (principal + principal × rate × years) ÷ months.
Reducing-balance charges interest only on the outstanding amount; flat charges interest on the original amount for the whole tenure. A flat rate costs nearly double the same reducing number — use the toggle above to see the exact equivalent.
Banks generally allow total monthly installments up to 50% of your gross monthly income (debt-to-income ratio). Use the "कति ऋण पाइन्छ?" tab: enter that affordable installment, the rate and tenure, and you get the maximum loan the EMI formula supports. The bank will also check collateral, credit history and income documents.
Yes. Just check whether they quote a flat or reducing rate — many cooperatives quote flat. Select the matching toggle and the numbers will be correct.
Yes, on reducing-balance loans partial prepayment cuts interest the most in the early years, when the outstanding balance is largest. The yearly schedule above shows how much principal remains at every stage.
