More than 6.36 billion rupees have been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief and Rescue Fund following the Rasuwa flood. Prime Minister Balendra Shah announced this on Monday evening via Facebook, stating that the Nepal government had deposited the amount into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Fund and the Prime Minister’s Fund.
As of Monday afternoon, a total of 5,879,223,842 Nepali Rupees had been deposited into the accounts of nine commercial banks under the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, Prime Minister Shah wrote.
Additionally, 3,193,238 US Dollars have been deposited in Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Bank. According to Nepal Rastra Bank’s exchange rate on Monday, this amount is approximately 486,362,080 Nepali Rupees.
Combining both amounts, the total exceeds 6,365,585,000 Nepali Rupees.
Prime Minister Shah also mentioned that several countries and organizations have committed further financial assistance.
He stated that the Nepal government is actively raising financial aid for the victims through the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Fund, noting an an increase in incoming support.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has launched an ‘Rescue Request Portal’ to transparently publicize the details of funds received from both within Nepal and abroad, he added.
