Free vehicle tax calculator for Nepal: pick your province, vehicle type and engine capacity (cc) and instantly see the annual vehicle tax (सवारी साधन कर) for FY २०८२/८३, plus the late-payment fine (जरिवाना) and bluebook renewal fee. Rates are taken from each province's official आर्थिक ऐन २०८२ gazette — not from second-hand blog tables, many of which still show old rates for Koshi, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.
Vehicle tax in Nepal is a provincial tax: the same 150cc bike pays रु 5,000 in Bagmati but रु 4,300 in Karnali. It is due every year in the month your bluebook (सवारी दर्ता प्रमाणपत्र) expires, at your province's Transport Management Office or through the Nagarik app.

* Madhesh's top bands run 2501–2900 and 2900+. Electric vehicles use separate watt/kilowatt schedules — for example a ~1000W e-scooter pays रु 2,000 in Bagmati and is fully exempt up to 500W in Lumbini, while e-cars range from रु 5,000 (Bagmati, ≤50kW) to रु 35,000 (Lumbini/Sudurpashchim, top band). Switch to the EV options in the calculator for your province's exact bands.
You can renew without fine for up to 90 days after the bluebook expires (but not past the end of the fiscal year — if your renewal month is Chaitra–Asar, pay before आषाढ मसान्त). After the grace period the fine on the tax amount is 10% for the first 30 days, 15% up to 45 days, 20% for the rest of the same fiscal year, and 32% per lapsed year once a fiscal year passes. After about 5 years unpaid, the registration can be scrapped (लगत कट्टा).
In Bagmati and Madhesh, private vehicles older than 15 years from the manufacture date pay an extra 5% of the tax per year beyond the 14th year, capped at 100% (the tax can at most double). Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim have no such surcharge in their 2082 acts. Enter your vehicle's age in the calculator to include it.
1. Check your bluebook's expiry (नवीकरण) date — tax is due yearly in that month.
2. Pay at your province's Transport Management Office counter, authorised banks, or online via the Nagarik app / connect.donidcr.gov.np (bluebook number and citizenship needed).
3. Along with the tax you pay the bluebook renewal fee (रु 200–500 for private vehicles depending on province and type) and third-party insurance must be current.
4. Use this calculator first so you know the exact amount to expect.

For FY 2082/83 a typical 125cc bike pays रु 2,700–3,100 per year depending on the province (रु 3,000 in Bagmati). A 150cc bike pays रु 4,300–5,100. See the full table above.
Once every year, in the month your bluebook expires — not on a fixed national date. You get 90 fine-free days after expiry, except that the grace cannot cross the fiscal year end (आषाढ मसान्त).
10% of the tax within the first 30 days after the 90-day grace, 15% up to 45 days, 20% within the same fiscal year, then 32% for every lapsed fiscal year.
Karnali — e.g. रु 2,700 for a 125cc bike and रु 21,000 for a small car, the lowest private rates among the seven provinces in 2082/83.
Much cheaper. E-scooters pay roughly रु 1,000–4,000 per year (Lumbini even exempts e-scooters up to 500W), and e-cars pay रु 5,000–35,000 depending on motor kW and province — versus रु 22,000+ for equivalent petrol cars.
Rates follow each province's official आर्थिक ऐन २०८२ (FY 2082/83) gazette. Provincial finance acts for FY 2083/84 take effect from Shrawan 1, 2083 (July 17, 2026); we will update the calculator if any province changes its schedule.
