How to blur or pixelate part of an image

Protect privacy before you share a screenshot or photo. This free blur and pixelate tool lets you cover faces, number plates, addresses, signatures, ID numbers or any sensitive detail by simply dragging a box over it — the area is permanently obscured in the downloaded file. Is the blur permanent?

Yes. Unlike a black box that can sometimes be removed, the blurred or pixelated pixels are baked into the saved image — the original detail underneath is gone. For maximum safety on highly sensitive data, use a strong pixelate setting.

Can I hide more than one area?

Yes. Drag as many boxes as you need; each is applied on top of the last. Use Undo to remove the most recent one.

Which is safer, blur or pixelate?

Strong pixelation is generally harder to reverse than light blur. For faces and ID numbers, increase the strength.
