Electricity Bill Calculator Nepal — NEA Bill Check (बिजुली बिल)

Free NEA electricity bill calculator: enter your monthly units (kWh) — or just your previous and current meter readings — pick your meter capacity (5/15/30/60 ampere) and instantly see your exact monthly bill with the slab-by-slab breakdown, service charge, early-payment rebate or late fine, and the average cost per unit.

It uses the official Nepal Electricity Authority domestic (घरायसी) single-phase tariff in force since मंसिर २०७८: consumption is billed progressively through the blocks 0–20, 21–30, 31–50, 51–150, 151–250 and 251+ units, and the monthly service charge depends on which slab your total consumption reaches and your meter's ampere rating.

Early payment rebate and late fines

NEA gives a 2% discount if you pay within 7 days of meter reading. Payment from day 8–15 has no fine. After that: +5% (day 16–30), +10% (day 31–40), +25% (day 41–60) — and the line can be disconnected after 60 days. Pick your payment timing above to see the bill with rebate or fine applied.

How to use this calculator

1. Enter units consumed — or switch to मिटर रिडिङ mode and enter the previous and current readings from your meter or bill.
2. Select your meter ampere (most homes have 5A or 15A — it's written on your bill and meter).
3. Select when you'll pay to include the rebate or fine.
4. The slab-wise table shows exactly how every rupee is calculated — the same arithmetic NEA's billing system uses.

Everything runs in your browser — nothing you enter is sent to or stored on any server.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I find my consumed units?

Subtract the previous reading from the current reading shown on your meter or printed on the NEA bill — or use the मिटर रिडिङ mode above which does it for you.

Why is my neighbour's rate per unit different from mine?

Because the tariff is progressive: the more you consume, the higher the rate on the later blocks, and the service charge also rises with the slab and your ampere capacity. Two houses with different consumption always have different average rates.

What is the 20-unit free electricity rule?

Households with a 5-ampere meter consuming 20 units or less per month pay no energy charge at all — only the रु ३० service charge. This lifeline benefit was introduced in the 2078 tariff revision.

Does this work for three-phase or commercial connections?

This calculator covers domestic single-phase meters (5–60A) — virtually every household in Nepal. Three-phase domestic, commercial and industrial tariffs use different rate tables.

Are these rates current?

These are the NEA domestic rates in force since मंसिर २०७८ (November 2021), unchanged through the current fiscal year. If NEA or the Electricity Regulatory Commission revises the tariff, we will update the calculator.
