Salary Tax Calculator Nepal — FY 2082/83 & 2083/84 (तलब कर)

Free salary tax calculator for Nepal: enter your monthly salary and instantly see your annual income tax, monthly TDS deduction and take-home pay under the Income Tax Act slabs — with full support for SSF and EPF (सञ्चय कोष) contributions, CIT deposits, life and health insurance deductions, the Dashain bonus, and the couple/single schedules.

It covers both the current FY 2082/83 slabs and the new FY 2083/84 slabs announced in the budget (effective from १ साउन २०८३ / mid-July 2026), which expand the 1% band to रु १० लाख, cut the top rate from 39% to 29%, and remove the separate couple schedule. Switch between the two years to see exactly how much the new budget saves you.

Income tax slabs in Nepal

FY 2082/83 (single): 1% up to रु ५ लाख · 10% on next २ लाख · 20% on next ३ लाख · 30% up to २० लाख · 36% up to ५० लाख · 39% above.
FY 2082/83 (couple): same rates, but the 1% band extends to रु ६ लाख.

What reduces your taxable income?

Retirement contributions — your and your employer's deposits to SSF, EPF (कर्मचारी सञ्चय कोष) or CIT (नागरिक लगानी कोष) are deductible up to one-third of income, capped at रु ५ लाख for SSF contributors and रु ३ लाख otherwise. SSF members also skip the 1% social security tax on the first band entirely.
Insurance — life insurance premium up to रु ४०,००० and health insurance premium up to रु २०,००० per year.
Female rebate — unmarried women get a 10% rebate on the calculated tax (FY 2082/83 schedule).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is my first रु ५ लाख taxed at 1%?

The 1% on the first band is the social security tax (SST), not regular income tax. Employees contributing to the Social Security Fund (SSF) are exempt from it — select SSF above and the first band becomes 0%.

What changes in FY 2083/84?

From १ साउन २०८३ the 1% band doubles to रु १० लाख, the slabs reduce from six to five, the top rate drops from 39% to 29%, and the separate couple schedule is removed — the same slabs apply to everyone. Most salaried taxpayers pay significantly less.

Is the Dashain bonus taxable?

Yes. The festival allowance (usually one month's basic salary) is part of employment income and is taxed in the same slabs — tick the checkbox to include it.

Are employer SSF/EPF contributions part of my income?

Yes — the employer's contribution counts as employment income first, but the combined employee + employer contribution is then deductible up to the retirement cap, which usually more than offsets it. This calculator handles both sides automatically.

Is this calculator exact for payroll purposes?

It implements the standard slab rules, retirement and insurance deductions that apply to typical salaried employees. Special cases — remote area allowance, pension income, disability deductions, multiple employers — have additional rules; treat the result as a very close estimate and confirm with your payroll or auditor.
